Liam Neeson’s Upcoming Action Comedy: The Revenger

Today, Deadline broke the news that Liam Neeson will be headlining The Revenger. While plot details are still under wraps, we can safely assume that this action-comedy will almost certainly focus on lampooning the particular set of revenge movies that Neeson has made famous in recent years.

The Revenger will be directed by Zombieland’s Ruben Fleischer. The script is being written by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, whose credits include The Night At The Museum movies, Hellbaby, The Pacifier, Herby Fully Loa–ah hell, it’s these two guys from Reno 911 and The State:

For the most part, Neeson is very well known as an dad-aged action hero at this point, but he’s dabbled in comedy a bit with stuff like The Lego Movie. Let’s take a look at his official announcement that he’ll be entering the world of comedy:

Universal Pictures has not announced an official start date for the picture yet, so this is still up in the air. People seem to really like that Liam Neeson fella, though. Just a hunch, but I’m pretty sure they’re going to make this.
